The Croft Nursery is a well established nursery which opened in 1990. The Croft is a Victorian property giving the nursery a home from home feel – a ‘Safe and Happy Place to Grow and Learn’.
OFSTED rated ‘OUTSTANDING’ (September 2023)
The nursery is open Monday to Friday for 51 weeks of the year and is open from 7am until 6pm. It caters for 58 children, aged between 6 weeks to school age and offers full and part time places along with funded hours to 2, 3, and 4 years olds.
The children are placed in age and stage appropriate rooms, this enables them to engage in a wide range of activities to meet their individual needs in line with the Early Years Foundations Stage.
The nursery has a lovely secure garden which enables the children to explore and widen their experiences outdoors. A large canopy covers a soft play area which allows the children to be protected from the sun during the summer months and provides shelter in the rain.
The nursery employs a team of PERMANENT level 3 or above QUALIFIED nursery nurses who offer a wealth of EXPERIENCE. All staff members also trained in Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding and Food Safety.
All meals are prepared on site by an experienced cook who provide a well balanced healthy diet. All dietary requirements are catered for.
The nursery is easily accessible by car or bus and is only a short minute walk from Newcastle town centre and the Royal Stoke Hospital (UHNM).
We have an open door policy so you can pop along to view our nursery without the need for an appointment. We just kindly ask that you try to avoid between 11am & 2pm due to this being lunch & sleep time.

The Croft is a warm home-from-home setting for young children. My little boy has attended here for the last two and half years and has received care and love from the lovely attentive staff as though he is family. Aswell as taking care of my child's personal day-to-day needs, the wonderful staff inspire and encourage my child's personal interests and have inspired my little boy to learn and play. He has made amazing progress in the preschool room so far this year in phonics and number, as well as imagination and play. Nothing is ever too much trouble for staff and I have faith in the setting that he is well cared for. My son loves the staff and speaks highly of them all. Communication is excellent on pick up and the staff clearly know my child well, even his picky eating!
A wonderful nursery!
We absolutely love The Croft Nursery. Our little boy has thrived in the amazing environment the staff create!
He has made many friends and relationships at a young age and the staff encourage him to be his best, his transitions through each room so far have been without fault with every measure taken to make sure his is confident and happy.
The rooms are always clean, staff are always presentable and polite. Meals and menus are clearly well thought out in terms of nutrition. There isn't much I could fault.
I must start this review with the fact that I absolutely love this nursery! My daughter has thrived so much here. She is soon to leave to start school in September and I really wish she could stay. The staff are absolutely amazing, they can't do enough for you. The activities keep all the children interested and in turn, make them thrive. My daughter has come on in leaps and bounds and if we have any concerns, they will always go the extra mile for you to try and ease your worries along with discussing with any external professionals such as speech and language specialists. I cannot thank this nursery enough for everything they have done for my daughter.
What an amazing place. My child has medical issues and these were identified by the nursery. They have been really supportive throughout the process and I have no worries at all surrounding leaving her in their capable hands. My daughter loves all the staff and speaks of them so fondly at home, she has very nearly learnt to write her name and has developed a real love of learning. It is my second child who is currently still in attendance but leaves this week - after their support with both children, I can hand on heart say we will miss their support so much in our lives.
My daughter loves the nursery and all the staff. She comes home having had a great day with lots of learning. She has made some friends and is encouraged to express her personality on a daily basis. They have encouraged and supported me and her with potty training. She has especially loved having the new chicks this week.
